This process is like opening an app on a tablet—it’s all done by touch on the main screens in the center of your dashboard.

Phase 1: Accessing the Lighting Menu

  1. Start the Car: Turn on your Audi A6 so the screens are fully powered and ready to use.
  2. Go to the Home Screen: Look for the top screen on your center console (the one that controls climate and car settings).
  3. Find the “Vehicle” Icon: On the top screen, look for a button or icon that looks like a car or is labeled “Vehicle” Tap it.
  4. Find the “Light and Visibility” Settings: A new menu will appear on the top screen.
  5.  Select “Interior Lighting”: On the next screen, you will see an option labeled “Interior lighting” or “Ambient lighting.” Tap it.

Phase 2: Choosing Your Color and Style

You will now be on the main ambient lighting screen. This is where the magic happens! You typically have two main areas to customize:

Option A: Use Audi’s Pre-set Themes (Easiest)

  1. Look for a list of names on the screen (like “Maritime,” “Contour,” “Solar,” or sometimes linked to a Drive Select mode).
  2. Tap a Name: Tap any of these pre-set names to instantly change all the lighting surfaces to that theme’s colors and brightness.

Option B: Individual Customization (More Options)

  1. Look for the option that says “Individual” and tap it.
  2. Select Surfaces: Tap on the option that says “Surface lighting color” (or similar). A palette or a slider will appear.
    • Choose a Color: Tap the color you want for the broad surface lights. You often have 30 or more colors to choose from.
  3. Select Lines: Tap on the option that says “Line lighting color” (or similar).
    • Choose a Color: Tap the color you want for the thin contour lines. You can choose a different color here to create a cool two-tone look!
  4. Adjust Brightness (Optional): Look for a brightness setting (usually a slider labeled “Brightness” or “Intensity”). You can drag this slider up or down to make the lights brighter or dimmer.

Phase 3: Finishing Up

  1. Done! Once you have the colors and brightness exactly how you want them, you are finished. The system saves your settings automatically.
  2. Exit the Menu: Simply press the “Home” button (the little house icon) or press the physical power/volume button for the MMI to return to your main display.

Your new ambient lighting colors will stay set until you decide to change them again!
